A state shutdown can’t stop a virtual conference, or the drive for entrepreneurs to learn more about building their business.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, the American Indian Business Enterprise Center (AIBE) and Studio G at New Mexico State University will host a free Virtual Entrepreneur Conference. Various speakers will be presenting online from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with author Bill Aulet as the keynote speaker. Registration is free, and all events are open to the public.

“We’re very excited to offer this great conference at this unique time. It’s an awesome chance to bring together entrepreneurs from all over New Mexico to connect and learn something new. This conference has some incredible speakers. We’re especially excited to have Bill Aulet speaking,” said Kramer Winingham, director of Studio G, NMSU’s student business accelerator, at Arrowhead Center. “He literally wrote the book we’ve been teaching out of since Studio G got started. Whether you’re looking into a new business or trying to grow an existing one, this conference will have something valuable for you.”

Aulet’s talk will begin at 2 p.m. Aulet has changed the way entrepreneurship is understood, taught and practiced around the world. He is an award-winning educator and author whose current work is built off the foundation of his 25-year successful business career, first at IBM, and then as a three-time serial entrepreneur.

Since 2009, Aulet has been responsible for leading the development of entrepreneurship education across Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. “Disciplined Entrepreneurship,” his first book, was released in August 2013, and has gone on to be a bestseller in many countries and has been the basis of a series of highly successful MIT edX online classes.

Other sessions during the conference include:
• How Do Chambers of Commerce Help Business During a Crisis
• Protecting and Developing Your Brand
• Entrepreneurial Mindset a Road to Funding
• Leveraging Technology to Innovate Entrepreneurship
• Native American Small Business
• Business Formation, Compliance, and Agreements
• How Charity Work Can Positively Impact Your Business
• How to Start a Business with Just an Idea (without Funding)
• Top Intellectual Property Issues for Small Business and Startups

The collaboration is the first conference between Studio G and AIBE. Founded in 2019, AIBE is built on the collaboration and input of Native leadership to support Native American-owned ventures in New Mexico. AIBE solicits input from partnering Native organizations, community members and business owners to provide equitable and inclusive delivery of culturally representative services. AIBE also hires Native student interns from across the state of New Mexico, along with Native business owners, who are on the frontlines when delivering resources to Native-owned businesses.

Studio G is Arrowhead Center’s world ranked student business accelerator program. In 2019, Studio G was ranked as one of the Top 20 University Business Incubators in the world by UBI Global.
