Aggie Shark Tank, sponsored by the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship and housed at New Mexico State University´s Arrowhead Center, will be hosting the 2023 edition for student entrepreneurs from the Borderplex region, featuring participants from NMSU and the University of Texas at El Paso.

Aggie Shark Tank constitutes a vital component of Arrowhead Center's comprehensive support initiatives aimed at motivating, training and aiding student entrepreneurs during the early stages of their business endeavors. This program extends and enriches the resources offered through Studio G, NMSU's student business incubator, and its different sites across New Mexico and the Borderplex region.

This event emulates the popular “Shark Tank” television show, affording student entrepreneurs a distinctive opportunity to showcase their business ideas to regional business leaders and experienced investors. Participants will present a diverse array of business concepts, ranging from cutting-edge software-as-a-service technologies to innovative hardware products and services.

“This event is highly anticipated by our student entrepreneurs,” said Kathryn Hansen, director of Arrowhead Center and the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship. “At the core of the Hunt Center’s mission is the support of student entrepreneurs in the Borderplex region. Offering them the platform to pitch before investors not only provides valuable exposure, but also ignites enthusiasm for entrepreneurship among our community’s students.”

Set for Oct. 5 at the ASNMSU Center for the Arts, Aggie Shark Tank is poised to be a hub of innovation, uniting the Borderplex community in celebration of entrepreneurship.

“This presents an exceptional chance for our student entrepreneurs to shine, garner invaluable exposure and secure the support necessary to propel their innovations to new heights. We eagerly anticipate witnessing the creativity and dedication that will be showcased during this event,” said Carlos Cuesta, Studio G director.

A panel of distinguished sharks will preside over the proceedings, including Angelica Maestas, founder and CEO of HealthTech RX; Isaac Romo, Campus Founders Fund’s NMSU representative; and Beto Pallares, general partner at Audaz Capital. Sharks will evaluate each pitch, offer constructive feedback and, if potential is recognized, the possibility of mentorship and funding. Additionally, the sharks will pick their favorite pitch, while the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite.
