At New Mexico State University career fairs, the Office of Experiential Learning would take free headshot photographs for students exploring career opportunities, and the demand often exceeded availability. Now a new resource solves the issue.

The Nusenda Professional Headshot Booth is open to NMSU students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus throughout the year. It became operational in January and is located in Corbett Center Student Union, second floor, across from Pete’s Place computer lab.

“We’re grateful for our partnership with Nusenda Credit Union and for their generous financial support of the professional headshot booth,” said Tony Marin, assistant vice president for Student Affairs. “Nusenda Credit Union recognizes the link and the importance of students being able to have a professional headshot for their digital portfolios, videoconference image and LinkedIn profile. We’re living in a digital age where a professional headshot is often needed to stay competitive for internship and career opportunities.”

The Nusenda Professional Headshot Booth takes free photos in minutes that can be used on social media platforms, chat and videoconference applications and email systems.

“Headshots are historically very expensive and hard to get, especially for a student,” said Sara Keller, senior vice president of community engagement with Nusenda. “Having something like the headshot booth available in the student union at NMSU for all students to use seemed like a brilliant way to provide equitable, convenient access for all students.”

To take a free headshot, individuals enter the booth, register and then the video screen gives prompts through the process, takes multiple photos, helps edit the images and emails the results in minutes.

“The NMSU Nusenda Center for Financial Capability was fortunate to be able to provide this and additional resources to students, further impacting NMSU LEADS 2025-Enhancing Student Success and Social Mobility,” said Marci Salinas-Milam, NMSU Nusenda Center for Financial Capability program director.
