Dancers in New Mexico State University’s Dance Program promise to captivate audiences with a vibrant showcase of movement and artistry during their upcoming “Desert Bloom: A Celebration of Dance” performances.

The performances will take place at 7 p.m. May 1-3 at the ASNMSU Center for the Arts, 1000 E. University Ave. General admission tickets are $10 each and available here.

Choreographers include NMSU alumni Applehelen Kirby, George Torres Jr. and Ana Suffle; Abraham Quintero of the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua; student choreographers Graven Babe, Amelia Dunn and Joshua Bustillos; and NMSU Dance Program Coordinator Ryan McMullen, who is collaborating with a Florida-based artist in his modern piece, “Innerbloom,” which features a large-scale production made specifically for the concert.

“Prepare to be moved and inspired,” McMullen said. “Our upcoming dance concert is a journey through diverse landscapes of rhythm and emotions, each piece a unique vista waiting to be discovered.”

McMullen said that from the fluid and expressive movements of contemporary and modern dance to the passionate rhythms and intricate footwork of flamenco and the dazzling flair and infectious energy of Latin ballroom, “Desert Bloom” offers something for all dance lovers.

“This is an exciting opportunity to experience the power and beauty of dance in its many forms, brought to life by the dedicated and talented dancers of NMSU’s Dance Program,” McMullen said.
