The New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service will host the 2026 fruit growers workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 at Los Luceros, 253 County Road 41, Alcalde, New Mexico. The educational program is intended for fruit growers, county master gardeners and home gardeners.
The workshop cost is $20 and includes lunch and materials. Preregistration is required. To register, contact Elena Arellano at 505-852-4241 or eare@nmsu.edu. Two continuing educational units are approved for this workshop.
“This will be a good opportunity for growers and home gardeners to refresh their knowledge of common orchard pests and diseases and their management, learn about suitable table grape varieties, and receive fruit research updates from the Alcalde Center. The program also includes a session on fruit species and cultivar selection and young orchard management,” said Shengrui Yao, Extension fruit specialist.
The workshop is a collaboration between NMSU Extension, NMSU’s Sustainable Agriculture Science Center at Alcalde, Santa Fe County Extension, Rio Arriba County Extension, New Mexico Department of Agriculture and New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau.
