NMSU Extension to host outdoor cooking workshop in Harding County

New Mexico State University’s Harding County Cooperative Extension Service will host the Flavor Lab: Outdoor Cooking and Meat Science workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at the Harding County Community Building, 557 Wagon Mound Highway in Roy, New Mexico.

“This workshop aims to explore outdoor cooking, food safety and meat science in a fun and interactive community setting,” said Courtney Mitchell, Harding County Extension program director.

The workshop costs $40 and includes a full meal and outdoor cooking materials. Online registration is available at https://flavorlab.ezregister.com. Deadline to register is 5 p.m. June 13.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about meat preparation, seasoning and how to grill their own meat and vegetables. They will have the chance to use grilling tools during the workshop. Francine Mezzomo Giotto, NMSU meat science assistant professor, will lead the meat science portion. Participants will receive printed workshop materials and guides, take-home rub samples or recipe cards and other giveaways. Available food will include smoked brisket and appetizers, grilled beef, pork and vegetables and dessert.
