In recognition of Military Appreciation Month, New Mexico State University Global Campus reaffirms its ongoing commitment to serving military-affiliated students and veterans across the globe through flexible, affordable, and supportive online education.

NMSU Global Campus offers 90+ accredited programs, 100% online with a fixed tuition rate of $250 per credit hour for active military. In addition, active-duty, National Guard, and Reserve service members, military dependents, and veteran students have access to the university’s Military and Veteran Programs, a comprehensive and robust support system designed to guide military-affiliated learners from enrollment to graduation, no matter where they are located.

NMSU Global's commitment is reflected in the experience of Brianna Kloeckl, a May 2025 graduate. “NMSU Global Campus gave me the option to return home to finish my degree,” she said.

Brianna, a former military dependent, whose father served in the United States Army and lives in Germany, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Criminal Justice. Her academic journey began in person on campus in Las Cruces. However, she wanted to return to Germany to be with her family for her final year. With the help of NMSU Global Campus, Brianna was able to finish her degrees fully online while living abroad.

“Without NMSU Global Campus, I would not have been able to do that,” she said. “It allowed me to go home and be back with family, while still finishing up the degree I had started without interruption."

For financial assistance, Brianna utilized transferred GI Bill benefits from her father to support her education. “My dad served for many years in the military, and he only used part of his GI Bill, so he transferred the remainder to me,” she explained. “The GI Bill covered my tuition, and I also received a housing stipend.”

Long-distance learning did nothing to dampen the support Brianna received from the Military and Veterans Programs Office and NMSU faculty. “The support I received online was just as strong as it was in person,” she said. “There’s a great network of professors, fellow military students, and the Military and Veterans Programs Office, even for those of us living abroad.”

Brianna’s experience is part of a larger transformation in access to higher education for military-affiliated learners. This shift is echoed by NMSU staff who work directly with these students.

Nick Osborne, a Career Resource Coordinator at NMSU Global Campus and a United States Coast Guard veteran (2002-2010), highlights how access to education has evolved for service members. According to Nick, education used to be something that usually only ever happened “after” military service.

“Online education in those years for me was definitely not a thing,” he said. “If you wanted to go to school, you had to enroll locally and you had to go to night class. Today, online learning makes it possible to pursue education from anywhere in the world, anytime, even while actively serving.”

As a military-friendly leader, NMSU Global Campus understands that flexibility, affordability, and support are keys to success for all military-affiliated learners, whether you’re seeking a career in the military, entering the civilian workforce or seeking a new direction after service. In recognition of Military Appreciation Month, NMSU Global proudly reaffirms its commitment to those who serve and their families.
