New Mexico State University Global Campus has partnered with the National Alliance to End Homelessness to offer a suite of online courses designed to strengthen the skills and leadership capacity of professionals working to prevent and end homelessness.
Through the partnership, learners will have access to evidence-based, practitioner-informed coursework developed by the Alliance, a national leader in homelessness policy, systems and practice. The courses are designed for professionals across the homeless response system, including frontline staff, service providers, program managers and system leaders.
The curriculum covers key topics such as housing-first strategies, racial equity, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, emergency shelter operations, rapid re-housing, diversion and data-informed decision-making. Additional courses focus on serving older adults experiencing homelessness and engaging cross-sector partners, including the business community, in community-based solutions.
“To end homelessness in the United States, it is essential that the next generation of leaders has access to credible information, skills and training,” said a representative of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. “The National Alliance to End Homelessness is thrilled to expand access to its online trainings through New Mexico State University’s Global Campus. We believe that an end to homelessness is possible, even in these challenging times, and we’re honored to support and empower homeless service providers, community organizations, advocates and partners who are working every day to strengthen systems of care and create lasting solutions.”
The partnership supports NMSU Global Campus’ mission to provide flexible, career-relevant education that meets the needs of working professionals and community leaders. Offered in an online, asynchronous format, the courses allow learners to build practical skills while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
“The challenges facing homelessness systems today require informed, well-prepared professionals who understand both the human and systemic dimensions of the issue,” said Erika Genty, senior manager of microlearning programs. “By partnering with the National Alliance to End Homelessness, we are expanding access to trusted, real-world training that equips learners to make an immediate and meaningful impact in their communities.”
