NMSU Graduate School launches new initiative focused on impact of graduate education

New Mexico State University’s Graduate School will launch a new annual initiative, “The Transformative Power of Graduate Education,” this fall. The event will highlight the impact of graduate education and research in addressing complex challenges and advancing the public good. 

The inaugural event will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Corbett Center Auditorium on the NMSU Las Cruces campus. The event is free and open to the public. 

“Graduate education builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired at the baccalaureate level and provides opportunities for future professionals to solve complex societal challenges,” said Ranjit T. Koodali, dean of the Graduate School and associate provost for Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies. “NMSU’s graduate programs have consistently been ranked among the top programs, and new initiatives such as this may inspire students to pursue graduate education and make meaningful contributions to society.” 

The event will feature Chitra Nawbatt, an investor, entrepreneur, USA TODAY bestselling author and host of “The Codebreaker Mindset” book and podcast. Nawbatt will share frameworks for accelerating career growth, including building pattern recognition for effective decision-making, harnessing the nonlinear forces in our lives and understanding how graduate education can enable competitiveness. 

Following the event, NMSU students who present their Aggie ID will receive a free signed copy of “The Codebreaker Mindset,” while supplies last.
