The Graduate Student Council at New Mexico State University will host the Graduate Research and Arts Symposium Oct. 30, an event that will highlight graduate student research, creativity and innovation.
The symposium will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 at Corbett Center Student Union. The abstract submission deadline is Saturday, Oct. 17. Participants will be awarded cash prizes ranging from $25 to $250. Lunch will be provided.
The symposium will feature a full day of presentations across multiple disciplines, including exact and applied sciences, life sciences, social sciences, and data sciences, as well as poster sessions and arts presentations.
“The Graduate Research and Arts Symposium is a campus-wide celebration of excellence in research and creative works of graduate students,” said Ranjit Koodali, dean of the NMSU Graduate School and associate provost for interdisciplinary graduate studies. “The NMSU Graduate School provides scholarship to recognize excellence in research and creative works presented at GRAS.”
The symposium is open to students at different stages of their academic careers, including early-stage, intermediate and advanced degree students. Participants may compete in both oral and poster presentation categories, including a dedicated arts session.
“The success of GRAS Fall 2026 is made possible through the continued support of the Graduate School,” said Camilo Muñoz Peña, vice president of activities for the NMSU Graduate Student Council. “Together, the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Council provide up to $5,000 in prizes and scholarships to recognize outstanding presentations and celebrate the excellence, innovation, creativity and scholarly achievements of NMSU students. These awards highlight the exceptional research and artistic contributions that continue to strengthen and distinguish the NMSU community.”
The symposium also presents a chance for students to exchange ideas, explore diverse research topics, engage with and celebrate the diverse, inspiring academic and creative work happening across NMSU.
