Elizabeth Titus, dean of the Library at New Mexico State University, will transition to a new position at the beginning of the spring 2020 semester when she assumes the role of senior administrator in the Provost's Office, NMSU Provost Carol Parker announced.
Titus has served as Library dean since 2000. In her 19-plus years as dean, she enhanced the visibility of the Library and archives on campus. Titus has worked with her fellow deans, department heads and faculty across the university to build the library collection and expand services for faculty and students. She also was instrumental in expanding the NMSU Archives and Special Collections, including establishing the Pete V. Domenici Archives.
Parker expressed her gratitude for Dean Titus' many years of service and dedication to the Library and university during her term as dean. Titus said that she is proud of her accomplishments as Library dean but is looking forward to taking on new challenges and projects.
Titus earned her bachelor's degree in political science from the Michigan State University-Oakland, her master's degree in library science from the University of Michigan, her master's degree in urban planning from Wayne State University and her Ph.D. in political science from Northern Illinois University.
A national search will be conducted to find Titus' successor as Library dean. Until a successor is appointed, Parker has asked Library Associate Dean Katherine Terpis to serve as interim dean.
