New Mexico State University has selected banking industry veteran Kenneth L. Glascock as its new chief audit officer. Glascock will begin his position Sept. 1, 2022.

A career audit, compliance and risk professional, Glascock comes to NMSU from USAA in Plano, Texas, where he served as director of audit issue validation. As NMSU’s chief audit officer, he will report administratively to Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer Ruth Johnston, and will be responsible for all administrative and leadership functions for the Audit Services office, which oversees the university system’s audit, fraud, risk management, accountability, and transparency related initiatives, including the Office of Institutional Equity and the Ethics Point programs. Glascock also has a direct reporting line to the Board of Regents.

“Ken is a proven leader in the risk management and audit field with decades of experience,” Johnston said in announcing the hire to the NMSU community. “We are excited to have him on our Strategic Systems Services team in a role that is critical to our university’s success and our work toward LEADS 2025 goal of building a robust university system. Ken’s insight will be essential as we continue to re-envision our business processes, operations, and procedures at NMSU.”

A native of Albuquerque, Glascock said he is very much looking forward to joining the NMSU community as the CAO and returning home to New Mexico.

“My approach to internal audit is very collaborative, and will be focused on helping NMSU achieve its mission and strategic objectives through an appropriate internal control framework,” Glascock said.

Prior to his role at USAA, Glascock was director of validation management and risk control self-assessment advisory at Santander Consumer USA, a consumer finance company. He has also served in compliance and audit leadership roles at BKD CPAs and Advisors (Forvis), NexBank SSB, Beal Bank USA, First Western Financial, RSM, and others, often as the chief audit or compliance executive.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Colorado, Boulder, an MBA in finance from University of Texas at Dallas, and a J.D. from University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, with an emphasis in commercial, tax, banking, employment, and labor law.  During his career, he has earned numerous audit and compliance certifications, including CPA (Colorado), and Certified Internal Auditor (IIA).
