Three finalists for dean of New Mexico State University’s College of Health, Education and Social Transformation have been named following a national search.

The finalists are scheduled to visit the NMSU campus beginning next week and will attend open forum sessions, which will be available in person and online. The sessions are as follows:

  • Yoshitaka Iwasaki, 9:20 to 10:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, in Health and Social Services Building Annex, Room 101 or via Zoom.
  • John Moraros, 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 3 in Domenici Hall, Room 109 or via Zoom.
  • Arpana Govindan Inman, 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 in O’Donnell Hall, Room 111 or via Zoom.

The inaugural dean of the College of HEST will have several opportunities to develop initiatives as part of the implementation of NMSU’s strategic plan, LEADS 2025. Enrico Pontelli, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, chaired the committee to advise NMSU with identifying qualified candidates.

The NMSU Board of Regents approved the creation of the College of HEST last May. The college encompasses the former colleges of Education and Health and Social Services, and the Department of Sociology, which was formerly housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. Interim Dean Henrietta Pichon has been leading the College of HEST since July.
