NMSU Police draft warrant for driver in weekend crash

New Mexico State University Police are continuing to investigate a single-vehicle crash that sent three people to area hospitals around 2 a.m. March 14.

The vehicle traveling southbound on Triviz Drive at the intersection of Cholla Road did not stop at the posted sign and drove through a fence at the nearby solar farm, crashing into the panels. Police say alcohol and speed were contributing factors.

NMSU Police Chief Justin Dunivan said an arrest warrant has been drafted for several charges, including great bodily harm by vehicle (driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug), aggravated driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs (bodily injury), and reckless driving.

Dunivan said police also have executed various search warrants to obtain the operational data of the vehicle, evidence within the vehicle and to confirm the identity of the driver.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the NMSU Police at 575-646-3311. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
