New Mexico State University police have identified the pedestrian killed Saturday morning in a traffic collision in the area of Cholla Road and Triviz Drive as 32-year-old Julio Caro of Doña Ana County.

The pedestrian crash occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. Saturday, when Caro was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Triviz Drive between Film Street and Cholla Road near NMSU’s Las Cruces campus. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, and at this time, there are no pending criminal charges involving the driver of the vehicle, who remained at the scene and was fully cooperative.
