Fifteen graduates of the New Mexico Certified Public Program were honored at a ceremony during the 2023 New Mexico Counties Legislative Conference in Santa Fe, Jan. 19. New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service administers the nationally-accredited program, NM EDGE, which stands for Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the public sector.
“NM EDGE is a program designed to provide a comprehensive course of study to administrators, managers, elected officials and staff in local, state, tribal and national government, through which participants can acquire and apply the best practices and theory to their management behaviors and strategies using the highest professional standards,” NM EDGE Program Director Christy Green said. “Hundreds of New Mexico public officials take NM EDGE classes each year, and we celebrate those who have completed all classes required for certification.”
Certified Public Manager graduates included Mary DeLorenzo, retired NM EDGE director; Charles Martinez II, Sandoval County construction and special projects manager; and Romella Glorioso-Moss, City of Santa Fe Public Works Department capital projects manager.
Certified Public Supervisor graduates included Diamond Contreras, City of Belen deputy clerk; Sumana Maiti-Ghosh, City of Belen GIS and asset control technician; Amber Hamilton, Roosevelt County manager; Alma Ruiz, City of Las Cruces Utilities Department senior office manager; and Anna M. Vasquez, Eddy County senior assistant human resources director.
Certified Public Official graduates included Senaida Anaya, Torrance County grants department; Jessica Blanton, Valencia County deputy clerk/stenographer; Daniel R. Graves, Grant County DWI coordinator; Hamilton; Silke Humpe, Roosevelt County services specialist; Michelle Paz, Socorro County chief deputy clerk; Eric Rodriguez, Doña Ana County treasurer; and Betty Saavedra, Socorro County clerk.
Liliana Rivera, Roosevelt County assistant county manager, received a Public Finance Professional certification. In addition, Hamilton earned certified Advocate in Public Ethics and certified Public Purchasing Professional recognitions, and Blanton and Humpe received certified county clerk honors.
