NMSU reminds fans to respect tailgating regulations

Release Date: 16 Sep 2026
NMSU reminds fans to respect 2026 27 tailgating regulations

To ensure the energy of game days at New Mexico State University remains unforgettable for all the right reasons, we must work together to protect our cherished pre-game traditions. Tailgating is a cornerstone of the Aggie community, built on camaraderie, shared passion and generations of loyalty. To preserve this lively atmosphere and keep our community safe, welcoming and accessible for every fan – from first-timers to seasoned veterans – we ask everyone to look out for their neighbors and follow a few essential guidelines.

“The primary goal of structuring tailgating rules is to foster an environment where students, staff, faculty and families can come and enjoy the festivities safely,” said NMSU Police Chief Justin Dunivan. “Safety is a shared responsibility. When everyone actively prioritizes safety, it creates a protective network that prevents accidents and ensures a welcoming environment for all.”

NMSU expects attendees to treat fellow fans, NMSU property and game management staff with courtesy and respect at all times. Make sure you check out the tailgating regulations as part of your preparation for game day.
