New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service will host a free virtual 2022 annual fruit grower workshop via Zoom from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday March 2.
Topics will include overall general maintenance and management of an orchard presented by Harrison Topp of Topp Fruits LLC, in Delta County, Colorado; irrigation management in fruit trees by Koffi Djaman, assistant professor at NMSU’s Agricultural Science Center at Farmington; fruit tree training systems and planting density presented by Shengrui Yao, fruit specialist at NMSU’s Sustainable Agriculture Science Center at Alcalde; and growing grapes in a challenging environment: northern New Mexico by Gill Giese, Extension viticulturist specialist at NMSU’s Agricultural Science Center at Los Lunas.
“Knowledge gained will help with fruit production on any size of plot or acreage,” said Don Martinez, Rio Arriba County Extension agricultural agent.
If additional aid is required, Cooperation Extension Service has publications and agents that are available to do field visits to assist with any issues.
