New Mexico State University’s Family Engagement will host Family and Friends Weekend Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10.
The three-day event, during NMSU’s Homecoming, is packed with activities designed to strengthen the bond between families, friends and their students.
Registration is free but some activities have additional costs. To register, visit

“Family Weekend is a chance for families and friends of our students to come to campus to enjoy time either bonding with their student or sometimes just bonding with each other,” said Kirsten Holles, Family Engagement senior coordinator.
To begin the weekend, families will explore campus through “choose your own campus adventure.” They will have the opportunity to visit campus museums, play yard games and shop at the Chili Pepper Institute. The annual Family and Friends Weekend Karaoke and Dinner and a guided observation of astronomical objects will take place Nov. 8.
On Nov. 9, Pastries and Parade will be offered before the Homecoming Parade. A scavenger hunt, cornhole competition and Ag Day activities will follow the parade. To end the day, families can attend NMSU’s Homecoming football game against Western Kentucky.
On Nov. 10, families have the option of hiking La Cueva Trail then joining their student for brunch at Toas Dining Hall.
“It’s a good way for students to connect their family to their experiences,” Holles said.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, Family Engagement is partnering with Taos Dining Hall to share a dinner recipe. Families can prepare this meal at home, allowing them to share a dining experience with their students who are eating at Taos Dining Hall that afternoon.
Aggie Family Dinner recipes will be posted Oct. 1 on NMSU’s Family Engagement website.
