NMSU’s Office of Experiential Learning to host seventh annual Health Professions Fair

Release Date: 19 Oct 2021

New Mexico State University’s Office of Experiential Learning will host the seventh annual Health Professions Fair from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. This event is co-sponsored by the College of Health, Education and Social Transformation and will be held virtually via Handshake.

“As we continue to operate with COVID safe practices through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, health professionals have served a vital, front-line and essential role in serving communities worldwide,” said Patricia Leyba, Office of Experiential Learning director. “The healthcare and healthcare support fields continue to be on the fast track as one of the largest growth industries.”

The Health Professions Fair provides students, alumni and community members with the opportunity to meet with representatives from various healthcare organizations including hospitals, social service agencies and graduate programs seeking to hire or recruit students in nursing or other health-related professions.

These organizations look to engage with students who major in programs from several colleges such as human nutrition and dietetic science; family and consumer sciences; counseling and educational psychology; kinesiology; special education; communication disorders; nursing, public health sciences; and social work to name a few.

Students, alumni and guests must create a Handshake account in order to access and register for the virtual career fair. Handshake is accessible on the OEL website at https://oel.nmsu.edu or https://nmsu.joinhandshake.com/. It is recommended that students research potential employers in advance of the virtual fair. Participants should sign up for group and one-on-one sessions prior to the day of the event to maximize opportunities.
