NMSU to host 2023 Outreach Conference Nov. 14-15

Registration for New Mexico State University’s 2023 Outreach Conference is now available. This year’s conference, “Amplifying Outreach Through Education, Health and Economic Development,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Ave.

“This will be a special, exciting Outreach Conference and part of the continuing dialogue we must nurture between the university and stakeholders in New Mexico,” said Luis Cifuentes, vice president of NMSU’s Office of Research, Creativity and Economic Development.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the conference will open with an introduction from 9 to 9:30 a.m. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., there will be an overview on Extension health programs and social determinants of health. From 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., lunch will be provided and Garrey Carruthers, former New Mexico governor and NMSU president, will deliver the keynote speech. 

After the keynote, the first series of breakout sessions on education, economic and workforce development will be held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. The second series of breakout sessions on health, education and economic development will be from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. The day will conclude with a Building Partnerships Reception from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, there will be an introduction from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and an overview on health from 9 to 10 a.m. There will be another series of breakout sessions on education, health and economic development from 10:15 to 11 a.m. The conference will close with a discussion on future planning from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.

During the event, attendees will be able to explore the 2022 NMSU Economic Impact Report. There will also be an awards ceremony to present the Kevin B. Boberg Economic Development Award of Excellence, an award that honors someone who has made a strong impact on NMSU’s economic development.
