New Mexico State University’s Aggie Accelerate program hosts 40 incoming freshmen students on campus from Aug. 1 through Aug. 10. The newly-created program was developed to help students adjust to NMSU’s campus with a co-curricular and residential-based experience prior to the fall 2021 semester.

The free program will help students to prepare for college-level English and mathematics with NMSU faculty providing instruction to augment student academic preparedness for the courses. Co-curricular activities will include leadership development, financial wellness, college life and academic success skills that are designed for student success.

Students will have the chance to participate in social activities in and around Las Cruces. Additionally, Aggie Accelerate students will have the opportunity to participate in programming during the 2021-2022 academic year through a specially designed mentoring program facilitated by the Student Success Center.

“Research indicates the greater students are engaged with their campus both inside and outside of the classroom the more likely students will persist and graduate from college. The Aggie Accelerate bridge program incorporates high impact practices that are designed to foster greater student engagement,” said Tony Marin, assistant vice president of student affairs.

Students will live-on campus for the program duration, giving on-campus residents an early move-in opportunity. Students who complete the program will receive an Apple iPad and accessories.
