The Nelson-Boswell reading series will welcome poet Joni Wallace for an upcoming evening of poetry described by critics as a "revelatory assemblage of word and sount" on Friday, Oct. 9.
Hosted by La Sociedad para Las Artes, the public reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the CMI Theater, Room 171, in Milton Hall. Wallace, an acclaimed poet and author of three poetry collections, “Landscape with Missing River,” "Kingdom Come Radio Show" and “Blinking Ephemeral Valentine,” will share selections from her work.
Based in Tucson, Arizona, Wallace holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Montana and a law degree from the University of New Mexico. Her work is praised for its vivid language and lyrical depth. The poet has received notable recognition and literary awards, including the Besmilr Brigham Award which recognizes a woman writer living away from the largest urban centers, the Washington Prize, AROHO’s To the Lighthouse Award, an annual literary award presented by the A Room of Her Own Foundation (AROHO), and the Levis Prize.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of her poetry collections, with a reception following the reading. The event is free and open to the public.
