NMSU to host writer and poet in Nelson Boswell reading series

WHAT: La Sociedad para Las Artes at New Mexico State University will host a public reading event for writer Karen Brennan and poet Joni Wallace as part of the Nelson-Boswell Reading Series, which invites visiting writers to NMSU to share their work with the community.

WHO: Karen Brennan is the author of nine books, which include poetry, fiction and nonfiction. A recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts fellowship and an AWP Award, she is professor emerita of English and creative writing at the University of Utah. Joni Wallace’s poetry and hybrid works (sound, video) have appeared in many journals and her documentary poetry collection has been anthologized in “Privacy Policy, The Poetry of Surveillance” and has been featured by the Scottish Poetry Library and the Poetry Society of America.

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13

WHERE: CMI Theatre in Milton Hall, Room 171

VISUALS: Authors will read from their works. Copies of Brennan’s recent story collection “The Rabbit in the Moon” and Wallace’s collection “Landscape with Missing River” will be available for sale. A reception will follow the event.
