For the first time in its 25-year history, the New Mexico State University Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium has gone virtual.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual New Mexico State University Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium adopted an online-only format. URCAS is the longest-running student symposium at NMSU, and features undergraduate honors students presenting their research projects. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s symposium, commonly known on campus as URCAS, adopted an online-only format. URCAS is the longest-running student symposium at NMSU, and features undergraduate honors students presenting their research projects. URCAS includes students from every academic college.
The 2020 URCAS began Thursday and will available for viewing at https://honors.nmsu.edu/urcas/ through Friday, May 15. So far, nearly 700 people have visited the URCAS website to read and watch student presentations.
NMSU Honors College Dean Miriam Chaiken said URCAS celebrates student excellence at the end of each spring semester.
“This year we continue that tradition, but from our homes. Although it won’t be quite as much fun as when we are together, it does permit us to carry on this important tradition and highlight the excellent work of NMSU students, especially those who are graduating this week,” Chaiken said.
Colleges and programs from across the university supported students’ research and performances, and ensured the success of their URCAS submissions.
