Austin Tourtillott joined the NMSU Foundation in 2022 and currently serves as an associate director of development, working specifically with the College of Engineering.
Tourtillott, who graduated from NMSU in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the College of Business, said working on behalf of his alma mater has been one of the greatest joys of his life.
“Simply put, I am a facilitator of love. My role is to assist our incredible alumni and supporters in using their hard-earned money to make a positive impact on the students and faculty at New Mexico State University,” he said. “I travel across the country to meet with alumni and identify opportunities that align their interests with the university’s needs.”
He added, “The overflowing love that Aggie Nation has for our university makes my job incredibly rewarding. Alumni are naturally driven to support our students once they witness the opportunities created when students receive the support they need. I’m merely the channel that ensures their generosity has the largest possible impact.”
Tourtillott said he enjoys almost every aspect of his job – his first at NMSU – especially getting to engage with fellow alumni who share the same passion for NMSU.
“I have the greatest job in the world,” he said. “I get to connect with highly successful, decorated and intelligent individuals – alumni from my beloved alma mater – who are eager to give back. I love helping alumni make a difference, and I cherish that my career allows me to remain in the city I love, spreading generosity throughout the university that shaped me.”
Whether he’s walking on campus or traveling around the country, Tourtillott said he’s continuously inspired by NMSU’s hardworking students and its generous alumni who support the university through charitable giving.
“Every day reaffirms my faith in humanity and my belief that people are inherently good,” he said.
Later this year, Tourtillott plans to marry his best friend who also happens to be a fellow Aggie.
