After 20 years of service at New Mexico State University, Cecelia Carrasco continues to find fulfillment in helping students reach their academic goals.

Carrasco serves as the academic adviser for the College of Business MBA program, a role she has held since 2022. She manages MBA admissions by reviewing applications, evaluating transcripts and ensuring domestic and international students meet program requirements. She also advises prospective, current and former MBA students, as well as undergraduate business students participating in the Master’s Accelerated Program.

“I truly enjoy interacting with students in both the MBA program and across the College of Business,” Carrasco said. “Advising students and learning about their individual experiences has been especially fulfilling.”

Her responsibilities include registering MBA students each semester, monitoring academic progress, maintaining student files and ensuring students remain in compliance with university requirements. She also works closely with the Graduate School and Global Campus on admissions, retention and graduation processes.

During her time at NMSU, Carrasco has held several roles across campus, including positions with the NMSU Foundation’s University Advancement, Doña Ana Community College’s Health Sciences Division, New Mexico State Athletics, Library Archives and Special Collections and the Parking Department.

“Everyone in the College of Business has been incredibly welcoming since the moment I began in this role,” she said.

An NMSU alumna and first-generation graduate, Carrasco earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2004 and a Master of Arts in education in 2006. Seeing students earn their MBA, she said, is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
