Since May 2023, Erica Mosley has been TRIO STEM-H director. She joined the NMSU staff in August 2021 as the TRIO STEM-H student program coordinator.
“My favorite aspect of the job is the direct impact I have on students' lives,” she said. “Guiding first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities to overcome challenges and succeed in STEM and health fields is incredibly rewarding. Watching students grow, achieve their academic and career goals, and become confident in their abilities is the most fulfilling part of my role.”
As director, Mosley oversees all aspects of the program, including administration, staff supervision, student support, program development, outreach, data management and strategic planning. Her role involves ensuring compliance with federal regulations, managing budgets, submitting reports and monitoring staff performance while providing training and guidance.
Additionally, Mosley provides support to students through advising, encouraging participation, recruiting eligible participants and organizing workshops on financial literacy, academic success and career readiness. She collaborates with university departments to enhance programming and engage NMSU’s STEM-H student community.
“Advocacy and networking are vital as I promote the program at NMSU events and conferences,” she said.
Mosley maintains records to track student progress, evaluate program outcomes and address challenges, all while planning for the program's future by setting goals and developing strategies for students.
“But by far, the most rewarding part of my job is when former students stop by to share their life updates and accomplishments,” she said. “Hearing about their successes and knowing I played a small role in their journey is truly the highlight of my work.”
Prior to her TRIO STEM-H roles, Mosley was an adjunct professor at DACC from August 2015 to May 2024. An Air Force veteran, Mosley earned her bachelor’s degree in social psychology at Park University and her MBA in information technology management at Colorado Technical University.
