Marko Mohlenhoff is the director of the McNair Scholars Program at New Mexico State University. Housed in the William Conroy Honors College, the program assists students in finding their path to a Ph.D. program.

Mohlenhoff has served in numerous student affairs roles at prior institutions, including as an outreach coordinator, TRIO Student Support Services director and student affairs basic needs case manager. He said that as a first-generation college graduate himself, he’s proud to have first-hand access to seeing the potential and the achievements of NMSU’s McNair Scholars.

“The quality of the McNair Scholars continually impresses me,” Mohlenhoff said. “More than just being talented students who have good grades, they show how serious they are about their education here at NMSU. I often tell people, if you need a dose of optimism for the future, look no further than the McNair Scholars; it’s clear these students are going to make the world a better place for all of us.”

Mohlenhoff said he wants NMSU’s first-generation students to know that the McNair Scholars Program is available to help foster their curiosity while finding the right path toward their future.

“If you want to go beyond the bachelor’s degree with your education, if you’re a curious person who loves learning and is willing to work hard, then going for the Ph.D. or graduate school may be for you and the McNair program can help you get there,” Mohlenhoff said.

Students may learn more about the program or apply here, or contact Mohlenhoff at markom@nmsu.edu for more information.
