New Mexico State University welcomes William Shattuck as its new director of Real Estate and Water Development, bringing nearly two decades of commercial real estate experience and a background in business brokerage, property development and public service to the role.
Shattuck will help guide the leasing and development of university properties, including opportunities at Aggie Uptown and Crimson Corner, while supporting revenue-generating initiatives that benefit students and advance the university’s mission.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to help NMSU develop its land, pursue new leasing opportunities and increase revenue that benefits students,” Shattuck said.
A licensed New Mexico real estate broker, Shattuck has worked in commercial real estate throughout the state for 18 years. His experience includes commercial property sales, leasing, acquisitions and portfolio management across multiple property types. He also has served as a business broker, assisting with the sale of businesses.
Before joining NMSU, Shattuck was a broker with Steinborn Commercial Real Estate in Las Cruces and previously served as qualifying broker for NAI 1st Valley in Las Cruces and Deming.
His career includes work on commercial property transactions involving gas station locations, a charter school, apartment complexes and other properties throughout New Mexico. He also owned and managed residential apartmentand self-storage businesses.
Shattuck brings extensive experience in local government and community development. He served as mayor pro tem and a councilor for the City of Deming, chaired the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and Extra Territorial Zoning Authority, and served on the Doña Ana County Planning and Zoning Commission. His community service also includes work with the Deming Soil and Water Conservation District and the Deming Chamber of Commerce.
As director of Real Estate and Water Development, Shattuck plans to continue advancing leasing opportunities and supporting development at Aggie Uptown and Crimson Corner.
“Given the land that is controlled by NMSU, we have several opportunities to expand growth and continue the mission of the university by working with university officials, public entities and private parties on future projects,” Shattuck said.
Through strategic property management, leasing and development, NMSU Real Estate and Water Development supports the university’s long-term growth and helps maximize the value of university properties in service to students and the broader university community.
